Divine Mercy Sunday & A Sad Goodbye

Dear friends in Christ,

On this Octave Day of Easter – also known as Divine Mercy Sunday – we join
in celebration with our young parishioners who receive Holy Communion for the first
time! May Jesus our Lord be with them in a special way today and every day of their
lives. Thanks to their teachers and catechists – and especially their parents – for
preparing them for this special day.

As I announced last weekend, Sister Alice Daly has been assigned by her community
to Camilla Hall, home for retired Immaculate Heart of Mary Sisters. Her last day with
us will be April 28 th . As you can imagine, this is a moment of tremendous transition
for her as it is for our parish, where she has ministered so faithfully for three decades.
Please join me in honoring Sister Alice on Saturday, April 22 nd at the 5pm Mass with a
reception to follow in the school hall.

Finally, a note about our building campaign: our fundraising effort has passed the
$450,000 mark thanks to several generous parishioners and friends of the parish. Over
the next two weeks, you will notice that the scaffolding along Springfield Avenue will
be taken down. However, this is a brief glimpse of future glory, as new scaffolding
will then be installed so that the façade work there can begin in the summer. Think of
this as a preview of the end of the project, when the scaffolding will come down
permanently. That is scheduled for the end of October.

May God be Blessed!
