The long journey into Lent gives us time to reflect on our mortality, examine our own sinfulness, and turn and return to Christ with renewed fervor. Our desert is the time without an Alleluia, and we fast, we pray, we give alms, and we renounce even legitimate pleasures so as to focus more on our Lord.
Here are some upcoming events to look for:
Stations of the Cross and Benediction of the Most Blessed Sacrament
Every Friday during Lent at 7 pm, Monsignor Anderlonis will lead the traditional meditations on the Way of our Lord’s Passion and Crucifixion, immediately followed by Benediction of the Most Blessed Sacrament. Note: No stations on March 17.
March 12: Solemn Rite of Confirmation
Join us at the 10:15 am Mass as the confirmandi of SFDS School and the parish’s PREP program are sealed with the Holy Spirit by Most Rev. Edward Deliman, Philadelphia’s newest auxiliary bishop.
March 24-25: 24 Hours of Eucharistic Adoration
Pope Francis has asked for parishes to remain open for extra time this Lent for special devotion to our Lord in the Most Blessed Sacrament. Details to follow.
As ever, confessions are offered from 4:15-4:45 pm on Saturdays, and any time by appointment.
Create in us clean hearts, O Lord.
