The Church lives her life from the wellspring of the sacraments. Therefore, as we enter upon these final weeks of Lent, let us persevere in our works of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving in union with our elect and candidates who will receive the Sacraments of Initiation at the Easter Vigil along with our young parishioners who will receive First Holy Communion on the Second Sunday of Easter!
I would like to start a special parish task force on Assisting Persons with Disabilities. This committee will focus on identifying steps our parish can take to improve access to the sacraments, faith formation, and service opportunities for those experiencing various disabilities – physical, auditory, vision, autism, etc. Please contact me via e-mail or at the rectory if you would like to serve on this committee or if you would like to share your experiences to help our committee carry out this work.
Finally – an unfortunate but important note: there have been a series of break-ins in our neighborhood, including in the IHM Literacy Center last week. Items can be replaced, of course, but it is an act of great injustice to steal items from the poor – and those who make use of our literacy center are vulnerable in so many ways. Thankfully no one was injured at the Literacy Center, but please be vigilant.
May God be Blessed!
